HP Umpire Malachi Moore ejected Blue Jays pitching coach Pete Walker (ball two call; QOCN) in the top of the 2nd inning of the #Padres-#BlueJays game. With two out and none on, Padres batter Trent Grisham took a 1-2 sinker from Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah for a called second ball before walking later in the at-bat. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the heart of home plate and at the midpoint (px 0.11, pz 3.43 [sz_top 3.39 / RAD 3.51 / MOE 3.44]), the call was incorrect.* At the time of the ejection, the Padres were leading, 2-1. The Padres ultimately won the contest, 9-1.

Though it impacted the Jays more on the scoreboard, Moore had a terrible game outright, for both teams.

Maybe I'm wrong - can't wait to see his scorecard for last night.

 

I will say though, Dan Jansen might be one of the worst framers in the league...the first inning miss by Moore was almost certainly caused by Jansen moving his mitt a full foot upwards.

better in a 178 of 195 pitch game than nelson's 138 of 160 pitch game last year, and heck, nelson has 9 LCS's and 4 WS's.
