With a bunt or "swinging bunt" up the 3B line (12"-18" fair) is PU going 3BX for a fair/foul call or watching for RLI and a potential pulled foot by F3?

I was watching my son's game last night and this precise scenario came up. I would have thought the fair/foul call would have been the priority, but the PU ran up the 1BL for RLI/pulled foot.

Would your opinion change depending upon playing surface (artificial turf or grass)?

Fair/foul is priority. No way should HPU be running and looking down 1B line as ball goes un-watched.

Get fair/foul, then head on a swivel. RLI doesn’t even apply for first 45’ anyways, no reason to immediately be watching it

Get out toward the ball, then use a drop step (or two) to watch the RLI and play at first.

Wasn't at the game, but if it's obvious that it's going to be fielded in fair, PU can start toward first earlier while still watching the ball.  PU doesn't need to be straddling the line to rule on a ball fielded 3 or 4' fair.
