Fan in the stands is constantly voicing his displeasure on ball/strike calls.  After a third strike call the "fan" yells out "No Way"!

Ump walks out from behind the plate, walks through the gate, into the stands and sits next to the guy yelling. The Ump calls out, Play Ball, Batter Up!

The guy looks at him and says what are you doing?  The Ump says You can obviously see the pitches better from here than I can from behind the plate so I thought I'd umpire from here!

Although this is funny .... I've heard this 'story' since I began umpiring (1990) ... I think it's an umpires version of an 'urban legend'
