HS Varsity yesterday...

R1, 1 out. Typical 4-6-3 DP with the runner sliding legally into 2B. The DP is turned flawlessly however (you knew there would be one or I wouldn't be typing), as the runner is sliding into 2B he yells "HA!" at the SS. It didn't bother the SS as his throw was perfect to 1B. I banged the runner out at 2B, pointed and yelled "That's interference" and then subsequently got the out at first, interference ignored. I did tell the offending runner don't ever do that again.

Good.

So, no hindrance?

This isn't a thing for runner INT. Either there's hindrance, in which case we call and enforce the INT, or there's no hindrance, so no INT.

You might be conflating runner INT with batter INT, where we sometimes "ignore" the penalty by rule.

I get why you did it—to send R1 a message—but I recommend finding another way ("if that works, you know you'll be out for INT, right?" or some such). Then we don't get stuck explaining the rules basis for "ignoring INT" to the defensive coach—esp. when R3 scores and not putting him back for the INT you called ends up being protest-able.

Had a similar situation last year during Legion. R1 slides safely into 2B. After the play is over (still a live ball), after the ball is thrown back to F1, F4 playfully slaps his glove on R1's side (they knew each other). I warned F5 that fake takes count as OBS; he replied that he didn't know that.

That's not a fake tag, and definitely not OBS.

I get that--I was just warning F5 that a fake take is OBS.
