Scenario .

two outs bases loaded .

hitter hits ground ball to 2B .

fielder decided to apply tag to advancing runner from 1st to 2nd for the third out in the inning . Runner on 3rd scored before tag was applied as witnessed and confirmed by home plate ump . Should this run have counted ?

No, the run would not score. The runner from first was forced to advance. As a result, even though he was tagged, this is considered a force out. No run can score on a force out, at any base, for the third out of the inning.

This answer is best.  Guest Heath, ... go to the rulebook and read 'definitions' "force out", also read the section on how a run scores.  When you read those, and then come back to this answer above from @Mad Mike ... it'll all come together :nod:
