Did they not know the rule, or did they not know IFF was called until after they had started running?

Even F4 touching second base for the non-existent force shows it wasn't just the Yankees confused by this   So, did (at least) three major leaguers on both teams forget the rule?  Or did they not know that the batter had been called out?   I'm willing to bet Baltimore players thought it was a DP because of the tag of second base.

I don't see a signal from U3 until after the ball drops, and after R1/R2 have started running.
