There is one out with a runner on 3rd and the batter has a 1-0 count.

The batter swings and misses at the next pitch, but his follow through comes around and hits the catcher's mitt. The ball is knocked loose and rolls toward the backstop. The runner from third takes home on the loose ball.

The umpire ruled that the run counted and the batter continued with a 1-1 count.

What do you think?

Runners cannot advance. The strike counts. No outs can be called.

From the 2018 Little League Rules Instruction Manual

Prepared for the 2018 Little League Umpire Schools

“If a batter strikes at a ball and misses and swings so hard he/she carries the bat all the way around and, in the umpire’s judgment, unintentionally hits the catcher or the ball in back of him/her on the back swing before the catcher has securely held the ball, it shall be called a strike only (not interference). The ball will be dead, however, and no runner shall advance on the play.”
