So trying to decide if this is a foul ball or something illegal. Right handed batter and right handed pitcher with the game being played under OBR rules. 1-2 count and a really nice curve is thrown. Ball is in the other batters box and batter has already started to swing. He is no where near the ball, so he throws the bat at the ball and makes contact. When the ball hits the bat, the bat is entirely out of his hands. Thoughts?

No different than throwing the bat at a pitch out on a squeeze play.  It's no only legal, it's proper and coached and expected.

It's a batted ball. Not necessarily foul.

@UmpJeff was responding to the video clip, wherein the batted ball is, indeed, foul after deflecting off the catcher.
