babe Ruth game i was at today. runner on second. ground ball and a play at first. batter-runner is safe and r2 rounds thrid and tries to score. F3 throws home and the runner is safe. Now here comes the fun part. the batter-runner, after beating out his grounder, runs through the base, into foul territory and hops over the fence! he sees the throw home and climbs back over and advances to second. can the runner legally advance to second if he enters a dead ball area? is he ruled out or is he sent back to first? someone help me out

How close is the fence? Did his momentum make him jump the fence or did he just do it on a lark?

Not if it was a low fence or a chalk line and his momentum took him there.

Depends on where it is I guess.
