I'm working a Strikes Against Cancer charity baseball tournament yesterday and they give me 10U...no problem. We are in the last game of my 4 game assignment. One of the HT kids gets nauseous, can't go anymore and they have to take an out in that spot in the LU, per rule. The over-matched HT is playing over their heads and have R3 (tying run) and R2 (winning run) in the last inning 2 out. VT coach calls TIME and says that he wants to intentionally walk the batter and bring up the automatic out to end/win the game. I SMH as I walk to my car.

Hope the HC was proud of his amazing managerial skills.

We do a lot of continuous lineups around here in travel ball and some holiday tourneys. When it's not specifically spelled out in the league or tourney rules, I make it a point to go over this in pregame and make sure we're on the same page....Injury or sickness, we're skipping and condensing the lineup. Ejection, we're taking an out when the spot comes around..

Eject coach for his unsporting behavior. When the next coach says a word, eject him. Eject all the adults on the team. Forfeit. Game over, bad sports lose.

You're welcome.

If I was thinking, I would have asked the HT HC if that kid was well enough to stand in the BB and try to draw a game tying base-on-balls.

I bet that would have been one small strike zone.
