Just checking to see if anyone from here may be traveling to Bristol, CT on Sunday for the New England & Mid Atlantic finals. SWMBO is seriously wanting to go if our local boys (PA state champs - Red Land) make it to the finals.  Maybe a few of us could get together for a "group" picture for the new PHOTOGRAPHY forum. Of course, and adult beverage or two wouldn't be completely out of the question afterwards.................

You guys are a hotbed of baseball this season.  Red Land took second in the State American Legion Tournament, as well as the Mid-Atlantic tournament.  Nice pipeline going there.

Looks like your guys are in the finals. Good luck! Have fun if you make the trek. Would love to get up there. Can't make it work this year.

The Jersey team from Jackson beat Somerset Hills twice coming out of the loser's bracket to win the states. I had the plate for Somerset Hills sectional final game, and the bases for an earlier game in the sectional tourney. I was shocked Somerset Hills lost. Thought they were one of the best LL teams I've ever seen. I guess sometimes when the competition gets better, some of these teams don't know how to rise to the occasion. They get so used to 10 running every team, they don't know how to win close games against equally talented teams.

We have the typical ebb & flow of talent years.  This year, the area is pretty hot.  RedLand 11/12s in Bristol, Dillsburg Intermediate 2nd in state, Dillsburg 9/10 3rd in state. Now, these are neighboring towns in different districts, but all of these kids play together through HS.  I was worried that Red Land would fall into the same "complacent" category.  However, these boys flip the switch when they hit the field and they are ALL business.  11 of their wins were by double digits and the closest game they had was district semi finals on a score of 9-2.

Here is an excerpt from the local newspaper and an interview with the NJ skipper:

Through two Mid-Atlantic games, Red Land is hitting .435 (27-for-62) with 24 runs, three doubles and eight home runs. Opponents' earned-run average is 11.50.

"Typically what I do when I scout a game is I keep score, take notes and see what pitches they hit and didn't hit," said New Jersey manager Evan Glaser, whose team faces Friday's Maryland vs. New York winner in Saturday's semifinal.

"I make myself a chart and go on that. To be honest with you, I didn't even make a chart [for Red Land], because these guys hit it all."

P.S.  It doesn't hurt when you have 2 former MiLB pitchers throwing BP either........
