I'm actually glad that we're seeing more umpires leaving games after taking shots in the head. It doesn't take much to get concussed, and it's always way better to be safe than sorry.

Why did he shift over with the catcher?
I did some positioning guesstimation while watching the video (especially the view from behind home plate) and had he stayed in the slot that ball would have missed him cleanly
I thought that the slot was our friened and we should stay there regardless of where the catcher goes?

he was in the slot like he should have been... it just happen to find him. While i personally would have just stayed way over closer to the batter... but he is in the slot.

There's such a thing as a Defensive Positioning Coach?

​Maybe I'm missing something (because I didn't watch the video), but yes -- a coach (and sometimes one for the outfield and one for the infield) is responsible for positioning the defense.  It's fairly common for one of the assistants to take on that role at the HS level here.

like i said, I would not have gone outj there like he did. I know i have been all by myself totally unprotected, but i did not go out there.
