I think I saw a great example of the "voluntary strike" mechanic in the top of the 8th KC BAL? Couldnt tell but I think U3 was the verbal "he went" before anybody asked.

Makes me wonder  if they were "advised" to ask and not ring up close check swings after the 2 close ones in the divisional series that got some attention

The catcher also needs to know on an uncaught pitch and a check swing and U3, I think, said "he went" before anybody asked which is what he is supposed to do in this case.

I love this mechanic.  Whenever I bring it up people look at me like I have three heads.

It's in PBUC and MLBUM so,it shouldn't be unheard of.

I wish I had the opportunity to whip this out. My partners are generally too competent not to ask immediately in these situations.
