The other day I was working a game, 16u, and I had a slightly larger catcher who set up higher than what I was used to. I had to move a couple inches to the inside to see the plate without the catcher's head blocking part of it.  Anyway a few pitches into the game, I somehow realize that I was never really watching the pitch before!

I noticed my head was at a bad angle and the ball came through the zone where I couldn't see it through the bars of my HSM. I tilted my head down slightly.....and wham!!  It was like I was just guessing at the pitch before.  I could follow the ball from the pitcher's hand all the way to the catcher's mitt.  I saw foul balls and deflections off the bat almost every time, compared to usually seeing only a handful each game.  It's kind of hard to explain but it was like I actually saw the ball, compared to before where I was merely looking at it.

I thought I was doing it right before, crazy how one little thing like the way that catcher was set up made me realize how much I had to learn still.  Moments like these get me way too excited for the Mid-American Clinic in September.....

Kudos on rocking the HSM. Now the deal is to try and focus on every pitch going forward from the release point to contact. Great to hear about your breakthrough, build on it.
