Question

Runners on 1st (R1) and 2nd (R2). Batter hits a fly ball to centerfield which drops in front of the fielder. Fielder throws ball to second base. Shortstop touches 2nd base to get R1 on a force out. R2, however, decided to stay on second base. He is tagged by the stortstop after the infielder touched second for the force out of R1.
Is R2 safe or out?

Safe. Retiring R1 removed the force out for R2. Once the force is removed, R2 is free to remain on second base. If, on the other hand, the sequence had been tag R2, then tag second base, you w
