There is an interesting article on the midwestump's blog concerning a recent product liability lawsuit involving a MLB Umpire and an equipment manufacturer. You can find it at http://midwestump.blogspot.com/. Reading the information in the linked documents was eye opening.

I posted this not to bash or point out the troubles of any manufacturer but, to point out a news item involving a key piece of our safety gear.

Just think how far umpire equipment has come over the past 10 years or so. Umpire equipment seemed to be a afterthought of catchers equipment. I wouldn't doubt if there is a relationship between the two.
