First adult EJ of the season; think I was too fast?

Remember most places require the person being checked to pay the fee to get their police background check, One league I work for makes umps get checks(if over 18) so the back ground check thing does not seem too far fetched to me

Ding ding ding. They do make players and umpires pitch in like fifteen bucks for it.

Adult men's softball is a good place to practice EJ mechanics and writing reports; other than that, not much else to gain from except fees. I don't know what it is but the "men" are the biggest whiners out of any ball you will call. I would advise following Jocko's advice about gaining distance after an EJ, especially in men's league. Half the guys have been drinking and have an altered state of mind to begin with, not to mention that there are a few felons on every team who don't care about the rules whether it be on the field or in life. They are easily identifiable by the ugly black prison tats that are easily visible.

You know, you guys sure do assume a lot. Alcohol is banned in that league and the umpire has a right to eject if they suspect somebody is under the influence of anything, plus all players undergo background checks and felons aren't accepted and neither are those with more than three misdemeanors, for this exact reason-kids work here. Maybe only one, but it's enough.Alcohol is formally banned at most parks where these leagues operate. Doesn't stop people. Trust me. HAHAHA we have this total Smitty called Jake who goes around and ruffles through people's stuff (with permission) looking for beer. He's so creepy people stopped bringing alcohol. They keep it in their trucks for AFTER the game.

Fair enough on the felons (for your league).  I have worked a city league where guys were telling me about their brother who was on the team who just got out of prison a few months ago, so on and so on.  That being said, no minors were allowed to officiate in the league I was associated with.  As far as the beer/alcohol goes, if there is adult men playing softball, I can GUARANTEE that the beer is flowing somewhere.  Alcohol is "banned" in the league the same way drugs are banned in prison but it makes it in there anyways.  They may not flaunt it, but it's there.  They are dead serious when they strike out and you hear the dugout yell "30 pack!"

What? Beer at a men's slow pitch softball game?  OMG!  That would be like having beer at a submarine league's softball game. Man, I played on some good softball teams while in the Navy, especially on the submarines I was stationed on. Great memories.

Beer and softball.  Always good excuses to get away from the boat.  Especially to kick the S*** out of the skimmers.

Drunken softball, I'd pay to see that

Why pay when it's always for free and readily available at your closest city park

Y'all are weird. The mens softball here, especially higher divisions, is some great ball. Good playing but relaxed atmosphere.

Men's slow pitch SB..........You deal with the biggest bunch of primadonna never made it past HS "I was the best in my school" players. It's really sick. The leagues hire the biggest, burliest knuckle draggers they can find to officiate. And the pony-tailed females. Most of the players are just southern enough that they won't argue too hard with a female. And just chicken $#it enough that they won't argue too hard with someone bigger than themselves. I called 2 innings of a game 100 years ago. The only time I've ever walked off a field before the game was over. Never again.

I agree, and here's my hypothesis (see if you like it): they're a bunch of frustrated wannabe's and hasbeen's.

People still remember that movie?

"F#%king show off kid! Who let that ass on the field? The kid's too short to see a damn thing happening on the field! She ain't qualified!"

You're asking if this was too fast? Oh, and your partner's an idiot. I would have let that slide if he hadn't been going all game TBH

Conclusion: Alaska finally got something right in the ball playing world.

Also, you're old.
