Both Jerry Layne and Bob Davidson are working the stick tonight in NY and Baltimore respectively.  Both put their hands in the middle in front of the jewels.  Is this gaining steam?  Doesn't look good if you ask me.

And Marvin Hudson in Philly.  I have never noticed it this pronounced before.

Is it possible they are placing both of their forearms on their upper thighs to lock in. That would put the hands you know where.

This is what I do.  Forearms on thighs, I'm locked consistently.  I will adjust forearm/thigh placement for higher catchers.

That's how I used to lock in(forearms on upper thighs). At a clinic an assignor for DI college conferences had me change it. He said it looked lazy, and if I wanted to move up I needed to change. I found a more comfortable stance that is also more solid. It's interesting though, that to move up I needed to change away from this stance, and guys who are at the top are changing to it.

I stand in the GD stance until the pitch comes, then I put my hands behind my thighs. This is a personal choice of nice, I know I will get locked in  better if I keep my hands there, but I am a pianist and music teacher in my day job, so I don't think broken fingers will benefit me.
