I can umpire high school baseball games again!  I umpired during my years in college and then started coaching and started a family.  A few years later, I'm back to umpiring.

In Iowa you need to view an online rules meeting and pass the online test.  Done and done.  High school baseball games don't start till May 26.  I can't wait!  :HD:

Great!  Sounds like the "arc" I went through.  (But maybe it was more than "a few years."  Haha.)

Wow...HS baseball season here will be over, including the state finals by the day you get started.

That's the way it is here in TN too.  Do they play their season after summer break starts?  Or are the schools on year-round schedules.  Our State finals will be over by then.

Practice generally starts the first week of May, 3 weeks later the games start and the season runs till the last week of July when they play the state tournament at Principle Park where the Iowa Cubs play in Des Moines. So the majority of the season is played while the student-athletes are on summer break.

Yea that's way different than around here.  By 1st weekend after Memorial Day all our HS players are playing 15U,16U,17U, & 18U travel ball select in various tourneys all over the South.  Many of the D1 schools down here host Pastime Tourneys or othe r sanctioning bodies to accommodate & scout all of these "development programs".  Keeps me busy all summer though so thats a good thing.

Why so late?  Weather restrictions?  This question of course coming from a California umpire.
