Hello all! My name is Jeff from the great Olympic Peninsula area of Washington State and I am a brand new umpire! I have been a basketball official for the last 13 years and was approached to umpire baseball this year! I hope I like it. I will be doing little league as well as some school ball. I am excited to get into it and hope I love it as much as basketball! I know NOTHING about being an umpire so I hope I don't look like a complete newbie but I'm sure I will. I accidentally stumbled upon this site and it looks like a wealth of information. I look forward to interacting on here a lot so I hope you will all be patient with me. Thanks!

Yes I like baseball and have played before. Played all 4 years of high school and still play co-ed softball.

One piece of advise.  If a coach comes out of the dugout and gets in your face and acts like Richard Sherman, eject him!

On a serious note Jeff, welcome to U-E! I am a 2nd year umpire and have found this place to be very informative and thought-provoking.

Continue studying the rule books and know your FED stuff. Game management comes with experience - of course, being an official with any sport will carry over to other sports in that regard. Best of luck to you this season.
