WS Game 2 tonite. Top 4. Trouble ball to right center with no one on. TV view only so other things might have happened. Anyway, it appears U2 went out and PU covered 3B after U3 went to 2B. What was ULF doing. It seems as though ULF could cover 3B. More umpires at my level equals a goat rope.

That used to be the mechanic I think but now they just go with the 4-man in the infield and have at least 2 out on every fly ball.

The line guys are also responsible for overthrows on the infield that may or may not go out of play.

If you watch them, they will drift in and towards the stands on plays in the infield.

I think the 'new' system makes it easier to do, when they do a 6-man crew. - the 4 guys inside do what they do every day, and you get the extra eyes in the outfield.

The changed call at second the other night, had the RF (Jim Joyce) umpire in the middle of the conversation with the CC and manager. Whether because of the respect he has or maybe had a great angle on the play - because he had no 'outfield responsibility' on that play.

In LL they use a 6-man crew in the WS and some of the regionals - different mechanics, but they use it.
