Just announced: Bud Selig to resign at end of 2014 season. Details forthcoming...

Thank God!  The best news of the season bar none.

Maybe the better news is that He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named announced his retirement and that Scully will be around next year.

1. The longest run a labor peace without a work stoppage among the big 4 sports.

2. The toughest drug policy of all 4 major sports.

3. He's grown the game, it's attendance, and it's revenues to record highs.

4.He's been instrumental in many cities securing new stadiums.

5. Added a wild card in '95, and made it better, IMO, with a 2nd WC and a one game playoff.

6. Hasn't budged on letting a man who gambled on his own team into the HOF. A man who had plenty chance to come clean and denied denied denied.

Very true and very good points.

I do not have a favorable opinion of him (I know he is crying on the inside after reading this).

I just do not trust him. IMO he talks out of both sides of his mouth about umpiring and instant replay. I also feel that he has stood a firm ground on issues like Pete Rose, but not so much on other issues (A-Rod comes to mind most recently. He has the power to not allow him to play through his appeal)

But he did have some strengths and I believe the sport is better off now than when he came in.It will be interesting to see who will be next.

Not so much talking out of both sides of his mouth. He is there to represent all of MLB. And I'm not so sure he has the power to not allow ARod to play during the appeal process. If I was ARod I would fight also. It didn't seem to bother MLB when he was the top dog, and now they are using him as a scapegoat. Remember, if you ain't cheatin' you ain't tryin'.

He had the power to  speed the process along. I understand allowing them to play on a three game suspension but when it is that many games, just start it.
