My thought that 7.06b is wrong hinges on the point that the runner is not in jeopardy of being out. He already has all four bases, the only way he doesn't touch all four  is something weird happens, so here we are. I still think I would have put a sub in and pushed that rule. As Larry pointed out, what if the F3 and he had gotten into it instead of the catcher? Are you going to award second, third and home for obstruction? Here I certainly put a sub in to finish the award, and if you are going to do that then you still need to use the same interp in the case that actually happened. It will be interesting if the MLBUM gets changed next year.

Actually, I probably would award the other bases as well.  Sending a runner out there to complete it is adding "insult to injury" no matter how you look at it.  If it isn't the original runner doing so, it is another.  And, to prevent any from saying something even to the replacement runner, I would not send another out.  Especially since we do not work MLB games, we have no idea what some idiot player will do even if it isn't the one who hit the ball.  These are professional players, we do not deal with professional players.

An injury is one thing to send a runner out for.  A potential brawl is not.

I see your point, I just don't agree. They had a legit problem with the idiot that hit the HR, not a sub. If he is stupid enough to start something, you clean house, sub, manager, and anyone else that gets into it. I really don't have a problem with them being mad at the original player, he was stupid, but not anything else.

A play is a play and an appeal is an appeal and never the twain shall meet.

An appeal is also a play.  Maybe Im missing the point.

Later this PM after a few drinks, I might be able re-create that thought and remember what my point was. Maybe it was just an amusing attempt (I was amused, anyway) at raising some of y'all's literary IQ.

Perhaps it should have read a play is a play and an award is an award. I don't think that a base-award march is a play. And you need a play for 6.07 to be applicable.
