West Vest on Ebay. Thinking of getting a spare CP.

Found this on eBay. Only 5 hours left. What do you guys think?

So, with shipping it is up to $90 right now. I would probably stay away. It is a retro west vest which is solid, but with only the one pic it is hard to see what kind of condition it is in. It actually looks like it still has dirt around the collar area. I would spend my money else where...it it were me.

That's a seldom seen Wilson A3209 West Vest umpire chest protector. You can buy one in 12 or 13.5" lengths at homerunmonkey.com for $104.49 with free shipping (use coupon code rmnsave5). It has an adjustable chest plate. The updated version of this CP has improved shoulder protection over what is advertised on eBay.

For just a little more you can get a new Platinum, so I'd pass on the over-priced used equipment. Seriously, have you considered an (old) Champion P200 (17"); P210 (15"); or P220 (13") as a back up? You can find the Champion for under $50, it has removable plates, good coverage, good recommendations, and it is lighter than the Wilson CPs.

Good plan. I picked up a back up and that one ultimately became my favorite. So much so that I sold my lightly used Platinum earlier this Spring. I was lucky enough to snag a Douglas last Spring before they sold out.

I bought of few of those West Vests when they were on Amazon for $30. Remember that one, guys? Good protection, but there are better rigs out there.

I use a backup only for emergencies now. I like the heart protection of my Platinum, with the one huge piece of plastic form fitted to my chest. Until the new All Star comes out, that's what I'm wearing.

Do they have a picture of the new All-Star protector? I have a Douglas CP. Love it, but want another quality CP. I was going to get another Douglas, but $199 is a little high when I purchased mine brand new for around $110 in May 2010.

The new All Star will not be available until next fall is what I seem to recall Brad saying last week. It is scheduled for release as a 2012 model. I don't beleive that there are any photos out there of this rig at this time.

The new All-Star will be for the 2012 season. It is still in development, but from what I have heard it is going to be worth the wait. I would bet images will be available late summer or early fall. I know that they will have to have prototypes to show to retailers at some point this year to get them to stock them for 2012. I would personally wait. I love my Douglas as well. So much so my Gold has not left the bag so far this season. I have eight HS tournament games over the next three days. I plan to wear my Douglas one day, My Gold the next and my Schutt AirFlex the third day.
