Ready for a tough game tomorrow

Tomorrow, bracket play starts in the annual Buckeye Elite Showcase in the Central Ohio area.

 

As luck would have it (sarcasm) I will be working a game for a team from Michigan and a local team with coaches I have had trouble with this year.  It will be intense and I thought about hopping off it and doing another game, but I'm going to man up and do some work tomorrow.

 

Do you guys approach these types of games differently than "normal" games?  If so, how?  

 

That game is the second game of the day (I'm only working two) and I will be on the bases.

treat it like any other game, do your best to put any preconceived notion about how it will go away..........

Agree with the others...new day, new game. Try not to carry over emotions or something from a previous game into the next one.

If you anticipate you will have trouble, you will have trouble. I approach every game the same, whether it's a HS Varsity play off game or a 13U youth rec grab ass game. Everyone, no matter what gets my full effort, I strive to do  better than the last game. Nobody could put any more pressure on me than I put on myself, so I never believe that I will have problems.

If you go looking for it, trouble will find you. If you don't go looking for it, trouble will still probably find you, just maybe not as quickly. I'm my own worst critic, so if I have a rough game or have problems with a coach, I just try I forget about it and move on.

Game went down without a hitch.  Close game. 5-4 win by the team I was anticipating a problem with.  Didn't hear a single negative word from either team.

Good. By the outcome it sounds as if you followed @UmpJM's advice.

 

If the teams came to play baseball, you should always be ready to officiate it rather than to get involved in a history lesson of some sort.
