Call I thought I kicked but replay showed I didn't.

I had the dish. 

 

6th inning tied game, one out, we had a D3K. 

 

What I saw was F2 diving for the BR I was straightlined. But at the moment I believe I have a tag the BR stumbles a little leading me to think when the catcher's dive tag got him it threw him off balance causing him to miss a step or two. Good enough for me, I don't need a lot of convincing to call an out  

 

Instantly one of the coaches and the entire crowd are on my back for the one team. All the comments were that there was no tag. Now I start second guessing myself. The coach comes to me exclaiming there was never a tag. He even mentioned that he saw I was straightlined. I told him what I had. He asked me to go to my partner, but I refused. I told him I wasn't going to get help from my partner, I had a tag I called the out and even if by any chance I was wrong there was still continuance on the play where the put out could have been made at first and there was no way I could change may call to safe and put him on first. 

 

The coach continues on, and while he is remaining calm, I'm giving him a little more rope and time because I'm now somewhat confident I missed the call. 

 

The other team wins and I'm now the villain. 

 

The baseball commissioner for my association was there and saw the play. In my post game he told me I had to sell the hell out of that call; which I agreed. But I asked him if I got it right. He was sitting up in the 3rd floor observation room directly behind the plate and had a great view. He told me I was right in my call and during the discussions they looked at it on video upstairs several times. (The winner of the previous game recorded it to prepare as they play the winner of this game Wednesday). He took me upstairs and we pulled up the video and damn if I wasn't dead on. Now I'm even more ticked at my lack of confidence and letting the people around me effect me in that way.

You held firm, even with the doubts in your head.  It happens more often than not, call the banger, the rhetoric makes you doubt yourself until someone tells you.  "you nailed it".  On the close ones your going to have doubts sometimes.  Move on.

That's great. I'd love to have some video of some of the bangers and tag plays I've gotten the most crap for and see how many I nailed and how many I missed. Might be humbling....Might be a confidence builder.

I wouldn't be too worried about allowing the reactions of the team the call went against to give you second thoughts. We use players and coaches reactions as evidence to help us make the right call. They key ingredient to doing this properly is knowing when to ignore it though. That comes only with experience. And as evidenced here, you have plenty of that.
