Hello all, I have been reading the forums for a while now and finally decided to join. I am 18 years old and new to umpiring but excited to begin officiating games and am enjoying all I have learned from you guys so far... I am also planning on going to umpire school next year but not sure which one to choose. Thank you guys for the awesome forum!

Welcome. Stick to it, because as you learn and get better the game actually seems to slow down and become easier to call. Also, don't ever think you know it all. Always strive to learn and get better. If you have the resources attend a clinic every year and listen.

Welcome! I'm in your same boat, young, excited, and planning on going to ump school. Hope to hear more from you, or even see you in Florida! 

 

What level/s are you both wanting to start at?  Are you wanting to do some LL games or High School?  Junior baseball?   Also, approx how old are both of you? 18+/21+/ect.   FlaUmp22 said he was 18, so if you are both over you, I would suggest looking into an adult training clinic or program for the level or levels you want to learn at.  Don't underestimate LL being a good place to start.  It can help you develop and help you build a good track record as well as much needed experience at the older kids levels.

 

Allot of associations will most likely have programs for officials also.  Things to look into.
