Batter in the box, squares around for a sac bunt, 80-85 mph fastball is coming right for his junk, batter pulls hands and bat back into his body to protect himself and gets hit in the hands. Put him on, or dead ball strike?

HTBT probably but from your description I'd say he's on first.  Doesn't sound like he made an attempt to bunt the ball and as most of us know, the hands aren't a part of the bat

But I agree with everyone else, pulling the bat back is not striking at the pitch.

Had a similar play yesterday in a college conference tournament game.  Batter squared, pitch way way inside, batter hit.  Coach claimed batter never pulled back.  I just told him (from the middle) I had no attempt.  He didn't like it. Too bad, so sad.

From above HBP seems like tried to get out of way but not far enough.Had a game where batter squared to bunt missed the ball took it in th ecup and tired to go to first very slowly, had to inform not only did that hurt but it was a strike (2) he they swung very slowly at next pitch and hunched over went back to the bench.

I was watching a friends 14 yr. old at bat the othe night . No count and he squares to bunt . The pitch comes high and insde and ,  as he is trying to bail , the ball nicks the bat and hits him above the eye . 5 stiches and one painful strike !
