Have a tournament that is supposed to start tonight in Central Ohio.  Temps in the mid to low 40's with wind 25+ mph throughout the weekend.  I have 10 games, so I am definitely going to need to make an investment to cover up my face this weekend.

Question for you guys; has anyone used anything else besides the Under Armour ColdGear hood?  I want to avoid going to Dick's Sporting Goods tonight if possible (really out of my way driving-wise), so I am just curious if anyone picked up an alternative at a Walmart or similar store.

I live in northern california, about 3 hours from snow country in the winter.

Early this season( All of Jan) we had some reallllly cold weather.  I went to both Target and Walmart trying to look for somehing I could use, and had ZERO luck.

I did have luck finding a compresion long sleeve thermal (Starter brand) @ Walmart that I layer up with.

Since you live in a colder part of the country you may have more luck.

Beware, most Targets and Walmarts have gotten rid of the winter stock to make way for spring stock.  Might be a search in futility going to those stores.

So, you're sayin' it's gonna' be pretty nice weather, huh?

JM

I'd take this weather over 90 degrees and high humidity any day (unless I'm at a pool/beach with a cold one). You can always layer up in the cold. Can't do much to layer down in the heat as an umpire.

Well i guess that would depend on if I'm working a game,  or a tourney(Multiple games in da day)

For a tourney give me the heat ,  a day of 5 games in the miserable weather sucks 40 degrees, 25 MPH winds :agasp_: , no matter how much you layer up it's still a miserable day.

For a single game, I'll still take the heat, sure it takes more out of ya but I can wear my short sleeve majestic blue which hasn't gotten much love this season.

Oh Wait you said humidity.  What's that?? :sarcasm:

I've been to Arizona twice in my life and I loved it.  If you're talking about that kind of heat, I'd agree.  However, dry heat is not what we have up here.

On a side note, I called DSG and they have black hoods.  I ordered a black jacket this week, but it won't be here in time :tantrum: Going to have a navy jacket for this weekend on the bases.  Anyone want to take me to task on that? :fuel:

I won't. Since I'm just doing rec ball this year, I decided to not buy a jacket til next year. Hell, by this time of year we usually have a steady diet of 90+ days with ridiculous humidity. But no, I had to make fun of some guys for complaining about games being canceled due to snow :banghead::bang: . Game started at 50 and went down from there. Got another one tonight too.

Sidenote: To the guys I poked fun at, please, for the love of God, take your cold weather back. Please!

I bought the UA cold gear, and LOVE IT. I have used it probably 3 times this year, and have never regretted it once. I don't care if there is something else out there, I can't imagine it would be better.

I got mine online from UA, and they were on clearance for $19 (usually $25). This was back in Feb. so I have no idea if they are still on sale.

NOPE, it has been my experience that on inclement days like you are talking about, my evaluators have been conspicuously absent.........

Went to a DSG that was four miles from the park.  They had five hoods remaining for $18 each.  It worked for me that weekend.
