Varsity Game last week.

Score 23-1 Home team winning. Bottom 4th. Bases loaded (again) 2-outs 0-2 count on batter who is the assistant coach son.

F1 lobbing the ball to the plate throws inside. Batter never moved an inch. HBP. I tell the runner "you stay right here" count now 1-2.

A$$ coach starts yelling at me from dugout. I'm like "REALLY???"

So next pitch a bit outside. Batter checked his swing but I say "Yes He did!!!" 3 outs!

A$$ coach says "Thanks Blue. We appreciate that!"

Me: "No Problem coach! Anytime!"

at that score, why are you playing in the bottom of the 4th w/ the home team batting?

I guess Florida doesn't have a 'mercy rule addendum' ..............  In Michigan, there's an additional 3 inning / 15 run rule for mercy

Isn't it 10 after 5 (or 4.5)? Bottom of the 4th isn't mercy rule territory yet.

This.  We normally have to go 5 before the mercy rule takes effect in HS.

it is, but MHSAA has an additional rule:

The MHSAA mercy rule will apply for: Varsity contests (i.e., 15 run lead after three innings and/or a 10 run lead after five innings). Sub-varsity (i.e., 15 run lead after three innings and/or eight run lead after five innings subject to MHSAA waver).

And he lives in Florida, why would he play MHSAA rules?

Really? Rolando lives in Florida?!?

I know that, all I was doing is pointing out why I said what I said ..... I thought that it was painfully apparent that Florida obviously doesn't have this mercy rule addition....but maybe it wasn't.

Rolando, ....

In Michigan this game would have been over because MHSAA has a 3 inning 15 run mercy rule.

THERE ....  that's what I SHOULD have said .....

I WILL EDIT MY ORIGINAL RESPONSE
