No outs, R1 and R3, and a double steal is attempted.  Batter swings, tips the catcher's mitt, F2 throws at R1, R1 slides in safe at 2B, then F6 throws back to F2 and throws out R3 trying to steal home.

What's the call?

OK Matt ... I goofed.

Here's what I meant to ask.

BATTER INT

No outs, R1 and R3, and a double steal is attempted.  Batter interferes with the catcher's throw, F2 throws at R1, R1 slides in safe at 2B, then F6 throws back to F2 and throws out R3 trying to steal home.

Now what's the call?

(And is there no way to fix the title of the OP???)

R1 and R2, run scored by a slow R3. All codes.

Well, the coach could take the play. lol.  Just added to be complete.

Now what's the call?

(And is there no way to fix the title of the OP???)

I don't know if you can fix the title but you can delete it maybe since you started it or have a moderator delete it or close it.

Sorry, I read it wrong. Thought it was BI, not CI

1. Since all runners including the BR did not advance at least one base safely, that CI CANNOT be ignored.

2. According to you, it was a double steal, therefore, both runners are entitled to the bases they were stealing.

3. And finally, as soon as a play is made on the runner coming from third, the umpire calls time, announces the catcher's interference, awards the runner home (since he was stealing) and awards the BR first, which would have forces R1 to second any way.

4. Or, as a previous poster said, the offensive coach could have elected to take the result of the play (chuckle, chuckle)

Jaksa Roder has the following case in Ch14: "However, it is not catcher's interference if the batter.... (5) completey gives up his opportunity to swing or bat at a pitch. EG: R3, stealing. The batter takes two or three steps backward during the pitch. Catcher's interference is no longer possible.

So I guess it all depends upon which camp you choose to erect your tent.

Oops - wrong thread.  Nevermind.  I'll post this over there.
