I always order two manuals for the season because I keep one in my equipment bag and the other at home for reference. I received them yesterday from Referee.com. If you already have the 2012 edition don't waste your money. The only changes this year are in regards to 3-man and 6-man and the new rule about changing a fair-foul call which it leaves pretty vague. The only change in 3-man is that the check swing mechanic reverts to 2011 with it going to the man on the open side of the batter not the one on the line like last year and if there is a lefty, U3 can't go to "B" but "C" or deep "C". If you do 6-man there are a few changes that regard mainly the wings. Take it for what it's worth but it's exactly the same as last year with extra reminders to do what we're supposed to do. If you don't have the 2012 get it because it is an invaluable tool.

Does it have something to do with IFF calls? :fuel:

1. Since they're going back to the old half swing mechanic and the experiment of going to the guy on the line is over, I'm assuming we never have to revisit that change again? I wish they would just make up their mind and stick with it.

2. As far as U3 going to Deep B or C with a lefty, same deal. A few years ago they wanted us in Deep C with a lefty, then they said you can go to Deep B if it was conference approved, then last year I think it was they said you can go to either no matter if the batter was LH or RH. Can they just settle on something? Personally, I hate Deep C for steal plays at 2nd. Is being in Deep B with a LH batter really a problem that needs addressed? Who exactly decides that they're going back to the coveted Deep C mechanic?

It said in the preface that committees and umpire surveys determined the change to revert back to 2011. I wish I knew what was in it before I bought two. I save all of my old manuals and I could've used the 2011 and 2012 and saved about $50 with shipping. That could have paid for my TW replacement pads instead this year.

Frustrating. I guess in the future you could wait a bit until more of us get our manuals from the CCA...and we can post the differences.

You're absolutely right. I figured with a new rule book this year there might be more changes than that and I like to go over it before I hit the regional clinics. Lesson learned.

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the CCA Manual? Everywhere I look right now is sold out. I desperately need to get in it and study it ASAP. I have to master my 3-man mechanics.

I'd wait and order the 2014 CCA Manual when it comes out...probably in December.  From what I understand there are at least 2 changes in the 3-man.
