Hello all. I was wondering if the "Smitty Major League Style Umpire Jacket - Black with Powder Blue Trim" and "HONIG'S MAJOR LEAGUE STYLE JACKET- BLACK / POLO BLUE STRIPE" is the same jacket with the same color stripe, although one is advertised as "powder blue" and the other "Polo Blue". Is there really a difference in color? Thanks in advance!

I have not seen them in person, but I would imagine they are the same. The stripes on the other the jackets are all very similar between manufacturers. I wear an older Majestic Navy pullover and a Smitty Black with white stripes pullover. A lot of guys in my area wear Honig's and we never have a problem matching.

The main difference I have noticed is that the Smitty jackets seem to be a little thinner than the Honig's one. I bought what I have because they were about $20 cheaper than what Honig's wanted for their brand.

From looking at the pics that I've found, the shade of blue is quite different. The only pic of the Smitty I've seen is on the Purchase Officials site.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I'm asking because my association requires the "polo blue stripe". Looking at these two jackets they looked similar and just wanted to make sure I get the right one!

I actually have no problem with anything Smitty brand I have ever bought. I love their umpire shirts, I have not tried the UA Ultimates yet, but Smitty's are my #! shirt of choice. The black jacket that I mentioned about is thin, but I really like it behind the plate. It blocks the wind better than a LS shirt. I have had no quality issues whatsoever. Now I have a black Therma Base (currently getting re-striped) that will complement the Smitty jacket perfectly. I also just sent my first pairs of Smitty pants to get hemmed. I planned on going Poly Wool this year, but I basically got 4 pairs of Smitty pants for the price of 1 when SOS sports was going out of business. I will give them a whirl this year and hopefully start my Polywool transition next year. Money should be a little easier to come by this time next year (getting out of debt). So, basically I have no problem recommending Smitty brand apparel to anyone. I know that Ump-Attire sells there pants and they are "customer choice." I am sure Jim sells a ton and it does not sound like he has many issues.

I have several items that Smitty manufactures...

I have 2 baseball shirts...fit is great and they wear well...cooler than my Davis(CK) shirts but not quite as cool as my Cream Honigs...but it fits better...

pants- 1 pair...fabric is great, construction is solid....my beef is they run small in the legs and seat so I no longer use...did 40 or so games in them before I just got tired of a tight fit.

knickers- have used for 2 season...about 70 ball games...no issues, still look white and holding up well...will replace next season and move them to JV night..

overall...I have had no issues with Smitty equipment...has all been a solid value for my $'s :2cents:
