Getting to the best angle requires movement, with players getting faster it sometimes requires us to shift to get that best angle as the play occurs. This was a great example of a PU moving to get best view of a close play!

remember ..........I didn't post this because I think it's wrong ........ it's been discussed here recently and I saw another example of it last night and wanted to share :)

Understood, I wasn't being the least bit critical. Just offering my opinion.

Sorry Danny, not directed at you, just in general because your comment made me think .... "I wonder if people think that I think its bad to move?" thanks though! :D

Have to move here. Good adjustment by Laz.

I like Laz.... love to watch him work

He's one of my favorites but lately it appears he's been a little more animated in discussions with managers.

This one for example he appeared to insist on the last word and you should never be moving your hands in an animated way while discussing a call with a manager.

There's nothing wrong with this at the professional level. He handled it well.

I know Laz. he is a good guy...

I dont think he needed to move as he was already 3BLX.. but we are teaching the moving with your catcher ( staying in the catchers left back pocket) and he did that.. I like it and see no problems... but us NON professional umpires will get marked down for not being set on a tag play.

I'm not sure he would have seen the tag if he stayed 3BLX. I think it was a pretty good adjustment and doubt supervisors would mark you down for moving on that play as long as you got the call right.

This is exactly what Tripp Gibson taught me last year at the Southern Camp
