New to the site

I started umpiring in 1972 in Hudson County, New Jersey, then I became the Head Baseball coach at the high school I teach at in 1980 and coached until 1994 (187-85). I took care of my sick (now deceased) wife and then started umpiring again in 2001. I love umpiring and learning rules, mechanics and situations, I teach Computer Aided Design and Tai Chi. Glad I don't coach anymore....parents are unrealistic. Glad to be a part of the site. :smachhead:

Welcome over POLOGREEN, I think you will be more comfortable here. The other site that PIAA and I moderate is really intended for coaches and aprents to umps questions. Here it is mostly umpires and so far 100% friendly.

There are other sites which if you're interested in put downs and flaming you will be welcome. I believe that once the expectations are set people will want to meet the expectations by nature. Even umpires. We by definition have strong opinions and are experienced at fending off others arguments, sticking to our guns and dare I say even enjoy a good argument occasionally. But because umpiring is a passion for many of us I feel we also want to help others who share our passion.

My goal is to have a site where some of our D-I members can have a discussion about advanced CCA mechanics and situations and a person just beginning their umpiring career can find the answer to the questions which are on their mind with out feeling ashamed, embarrassed or fearful. If we as experienced umpires can share our knowledge and experiences for all to learn by, then we can help improve the overall umpiring community. :smachhead:

I was playing HS ball in Hudson County from 72- 75. My brother and cousin umpired there for about 25 years.

No I'm with Shore Umpires Association. I know one or two of your members. I was at a football game last night with Bob Buchalski. His son was the field judge at a SOuth Jersey GIII final.
