One of my associations just started using Chase Quickpay instead of sending checks. It's basically like Refpay, except it is apparently free for both sides (I think the association is a Chase banking customer, which is probably what makes it free to them). I am not a Chase customer, and it's free for me to recieve the money. I get an email and text (if I choose that option) when they send me money. I click accept and the money is in my account in 2-3 days.

It still isn't cash at the plate, but it's much better than waiting for checks in the mail! Anyone else get paid this way?

I do bank with Chase.

I like getting to a field early before the game, being handed a check.

I then deposit right there with my Chase App on my Smart Phone.

Haven't even gotten dressed yet and it is deposited into my account. :meditation:

There's too much technology to entrust people with payroll. It should all be cash on the spot or electronic. period.

Where I work, all high school games are paid by the school, either on site or in the mail a few days to a few weeks later. (Depends on the school.) (I do HS with two associations)

Summer ball, travel ball, adult leagues, pony leagues, etc, a very few pay cash or check at field. The rest get paid through my primary association. We get paid once a month, July for June games, etc. Never had a problem getting paid, and it's kinda nice to get a larger paycheck rather than a bunch of small ones! This involves no invoicing for any games, I just get paid.

My third association uses Arbiter and RefPay. The bad part is I have to send an Excel invoce with all games I worked the month prior, and they will only pay after they get paid, which they only bill once a month. Haven't had any problems yet, but I do mostly adult ball with these guys, and it worries me a very small bit.

As long as you keep really good records, however, it's okay. I have been an independent contractor for the last 9 years in the mystery shopping/auditing world. I learned there to keep REALLY good records. I have an advanced Excel spreadsheet modified from that which keeps track of games, locations, association, responsible pay party, date worked, date paid, miles, etc. (And then turns it into nice tax time reports.) I watch that often, and if I haven't been paid, I WILL get my money. It's taken me 2 years and 2 months once in the mystery shopping field, and had to remind 2 high schools a few weeks later before, but since I have records, it works out in the end.
