If the tag was hard and to the head but is borderline not malicious, I may say this to the fielder. I'm going to say, "I don't want to ever see that again", in a very stern way. This will diffuse the sitution between the players. It will shut that coach down before he speaks up, and it shows you are on top of what's going on. Maybe.

If I'm the fielder, I'm wondering "WTF?"

I am kinda huge so most coaches never yell at me.

I did have a coach walk over to me after a close call at third and hand me his cell phone.

He said," Here Blu,e mine works good and you have been missing calls all day !"

Curses !

So, did you throw the cell phone as far into the outfield as you could?

One of those things you always want to do but know you can't get away with: "Accidently" throwing it out of his hands with the ejection mechanic and then measure the toss for points.

Since the phone's not allowed on the field, I believe that I would - especially if he was showing me up with the 'missed calls bit' - use the EJ mechanic to throw the phone into the outfield. I'd even be gracious enough to give him extra time on the 'leave the field' part to do a Walk Of Shame to go retrieve it.

I wouldn't rub it in by measuring for distance. That would just be mean. (And I've got a terrible throwing arm.)

I think I'd be tempted to bring up the notepad and write "You're gone."

Just send it in a text!

Can't. I don't carry my phone on the field. I do like the bullet pencil written EJ on the back of the lineup card. That's funny.

Agree with others who say they're in B with runners on 1st and 3rd. Most likely play is at 1st, so it's best to be on that side. But if you're told to be in C, have at it.
