IMHO white or red t-shirts look amateurish.

I like white as the undershirt for cream...anything else looks goofy. And frankly, I think it looks better under powder blue than the customary navy. What really bugs me is when smitty's wear red under powder. In Ohio, red is mandatory under the prescribed Navy shirt for school ball, so you see a few less-trained dudes wearing red under everything in the summer. It varies with location, but white undershirts is an easy lowest-common-denominator with some summer ball assigners.

I wear a very dark navy under everything. You can't tell it's not black, and it's mandated by AHSAA, so all my partners have it. Red under navy screams "LOOK AT ME"

Check out the ump group pics on CDP site and you'll see what I mean. The guys in red "pop"

A note to the guys on here from Canada who want to follow exactly what B-Can stipulates:

Undershirt standard for nationals now presents an option to wear a black shirt under both the black and powder jersey, in addition to the original red/navy (respectively). Still heather grey pants though *facepalm*

Personally, I haven't worn a red undershirt in about 2 years...it just looks ridiculous.

When you have the dish does really matter what color panties- I mean undershirt you wear?

At least in my case it will never be seen. My CP is up to my neck.

I typically wear white most of the time because of the heat here in Texas. Not that it makes much difference it's more of a mental thing than anything. I'm more of a pro blue and black kind of guy and I can't actually remember the last time i wore something other than those two colors. When we work 4 man crews for high school playoffs it always seems that we end up wearing white unders except for on the plate if we are wearing pro blue I usually go with a black under just so that my straps don't show through in the back.
