Evidently I am making up for lost time. After not having an ejection for three straight years (after having at least one for 15 straight years) I have now collected EJ #2. This time was a coach arguing a play at the plate and wouldn't let it go.

Will post the edited ejection report in a day or two for all to enjoy.

Only complaint I have is that I waited a little long. But wanted to give the coach a real chance to hang himself... and he did.

Despite it all, sometimes we just want to see the proverbial idiot driving the car lose and an careen off the road......Its not right perhaps, but we all do it

As promised... here is the report. Edited to protect the innocent (or not so innocent):

Date: 6/29

Game time: 5:30pm (total game time played 1hr 15min)

Level: Sr. Babe Ruth

Teams: Visitor v. Home @ Local Community College

Ejected person: head coach; Visitors

Inning/#outs/score: Top 7th. 2 out, Home lead 2-1, Visitor batting with runner on second

With one out in the top of the 7th and a runner on second Visitor batter hit a single into left field. The leftfielder threw home to try and get R2 and on a close play I called him out. I could see VHC with his arms in the air running down the third base line at me so I called time before he got to me. He began yelling at me that I had missed the play and started pointing at home plate. I requested that he refrain from pointing and demonstrating. He stopped long enough to tell me that I was wrong on the play and again began to point. I then warned him that if he continued to point and demonstrate that he would be ejected. I then told him, once he had stopped, that I had the Home's catcher tagging their runner just before he touched the plate. In a frustrated manner he asked me if that is what I had and I told him yes.

VHC then turned back towards his third base coaches box and I towards home plate. VHC then turned back around and yelled at me that I had missed the play. At that point I put my hand up in a "stop sign" and told him "Coach, if you continue to argue the play I will be forced to eject you from the game." His reply back was "then don't miss the call". At this point he was ejected.

He walked past me on the way to his first base dugout and was still upset about the call and now also the ejection. I turned and walked away from him towards the home third base dugout.

The next batter struck out on four pitches, the fourth of which was a called strike three. As my partner and I walked off the field some of the

Visitor players and coaches were yelling at us about how I missed the play and how bad I was. I did not hear what they said but my partner did.

We meet VHC on the way to our cars where he apologized and was informed of his players actions to which he said he would "take care of it".

Total time of the argument, ejection, and coach leaving the field was less than 2 minutes.

At Disney Wide World Of Sports the Umpires never eject players or Coaches.

During introductions at the pre game meeting we get the Head and base coaches names.

We then tell them that

If there is a problem with a player we will call "time' in the same tone as our ball call.

We will then look in our book for the Head Coach's name

Then we will walk over to that player's Coach and say "Coach________ player number xx is disqualified.

Please remove them from the game

Now if the Head Coach refuses to remove a player or is themselves the problem,

we pull out our line up book and ask for the name of the New Head Coach

Now we say Replacement Coach______ your Head Coach is disqualified.

Please remove them from the game.

They get the hint

....

Sam,

Is that because you're all "Mickey Mouse Umpires"?

JM

P.S. You really have to look in your book for the HC's names? Why don't you just remember them like a regular umpire would.

so instead of the umpire doing his job, he discretely tells the HC to pull him. The difference is the player is not punished for his dq like he would be if he was EJed, right? Horses**t! If he warrants leaving the game by my decision, I'm gonna hook 'em.

HP: Tom, your F3 is now DQed. Would you please pull him?

HC: Sure, Sam. Anything for you, buddy!

OR

HP: "BOOM!" (Haller-esque) Better get goin Williams.

HC: insert s**tstorm

HP: Tom, he's gone and you're next.
