SIR

MICKEY does not like that sort of language.

Point of clarification: Is MICKEY a rat?

I must be the worst ever because I've been called terrible by other umpires that have never even seen me umpire they've just seen me post on a message board.

Sometimes you don't even need to see people umpire to know how they umpire.

To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln-

"It better to reamin a lurker and be thought an idiot than to become a poster a remove all doubt"

This is advise that I could not follow.

And sometimes you are so arrogant you think you can judge that which you really can't.

Scott, you keep saying you are not sarcastic, nitpicking or confrontational but you have argued to the death almost every thread you have been in. I can deal with honest debate of a subject, but there are accepted things that are done in baseball, others that are done in softball. What you can't do is try and put one in the other, it doesn't work. When professionally trained umpires, and there are quite a few here, tell you something, that's because that is the accepted method. Local guys may put their spin on it and at that point you have to do what is the norm for your area. To argue just to argue is not the way to learn. I am not saying to not to disagree but as Rich said the other day," When it's you against the world, bet on the world." There are times to tilt at windmills, and I have, but they are few and far between.
