I was watching one of the NCAA Girls games on television the other day. B1 swings and misses at a ball that is breaking in and it hits her foot. Not that it matters, but it hit her without touching the ground. She broke for 1B which was unoccupied and beat the throw easily. I would have thought a strike which hits you is a DB. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the answer and hope all who had games this weekend enjoyed, and the ones who took a long weekend (like me) enjoyed the break.

I am a softball person. I don't do NCAA so not sure, but I am not aware of a rule where that isn't a deadball out. I post under rules because I think all of us on the boards look here as opposed to the softball. I also think a bunch on the forum also do softball.

The reactions by all involved indicate that no one saw it hit her foot.

It is a DB out in ASA & NFHS fastpitch. I don't see anything in the NCAA/ASA rules difference sheet, so I'm guessing it is the same in NCAA.
