Why, aside from wanting to look like an MLB umpire, would you want one of these contraptions? They're heavy, and only work well with the throat guardless Mizuno masks. I've had one of these rigs in my hand, and trust me, they're nothing special.

And the Wilson is more than twice as much as my silver Diamond. What you're not calculating is the "cool" factor. The same "cool" factor that had someone pay nearly $300 for a pair of my pants, or $400 for a Power cp. Don't ever underestimate the cost of "cool".

Hey, I'm all about the cool factor. I spend way too much money to wear the best equipment and look good. But there's a line to be drawn even for an equipment junkie like me!

I'm considering giving the silver Diamond with a good set of pads a try next year... unless, of course, I can find a Nike for under $700!!! :GL:
