Handling Pitcher's

I've seen it several times where F1's throw their hands out to the side or up in disgust or because they are upset about a pitch that the umpire called. How do you prefer to handle these, kid's, toss em' or not? :shrug:

I will send the catcher out to explain the error of his ways. If I am feeling generous a repeat will get me taking a step in front of the plate and telling him to cut the histrionics. Anything else and he goes home. A manager worth his salt should already be on him to shutup and pitch.

Good advice. A good F2 will usually beat you to it, calling time as he is already moving out to the mound to settle him down.

I had a great catcher that caught this before I had to even say anything. A few questionable pitches that were a bit high but honestly could have gone either way, I could hear the coach whine a bit but the F2 immediately yelled out "bring 'em down a bit, Johnny". Pitcher didn't get an outside pitch and started to pout, F2 calls time before I could send him out and goes out to calm him down. He complimented the other team's batters when they deserved it, told me good call on one that could have gone his way but was a bit low and wasn't being facetious, just an overall great kid.

Oh yea, he was an 8th grader. Kid's gonna be a good one.

Definitely this. "John, go talk to your pitcher and tell him his actions won't be tolerated a second time."

What age group are we talking here? If we're talking HS or older, instead of me confronting him directly, I'd get his catcher to help. I might quietly say to the catcher: "You might want to go out and calm him down because, if he does that again, he won't finish this game." That usually gets the point across.
