Now a board member

It was just announced that I was elected secretary/treasurer of my HS association. I was asked to run and agreed because I think I could do some good for the organization.

I actually take office after our season ending banquet in June. It's a lot of work & time off the field, but I really think I can help bring about positive change i.e. a formal evaluation process, a mentoring program and clinics.

I'm not sure if I should congratulate you or tell you how sorry I am...

Either way, I commend you for stepping up and doing a thankless job. Too often the good ones won't do these kinds of jobs because it's too much work with little, to no, return, so bravo for stepping up. I'm sure you'll do well.

I was treasurer for a HS booster club for 2 years. It wasn't so bad being on the board but being the man with the money really sucked. I learned what a true volunteer really is. Hope it works out OK. for you. Kudos for stepping up.
