Wanted to take this time to introduce myself to the forum. I have coached LL baseball for a few years, and this past spring took district training to begin a new avenue in baseball. I hope to be able to utilize this site and everyone's knowledge on how to better handle situations, and calls. I strive for the perfect game so to speak...i hate making incorrect or calls deemed 'bad'. i usually will recall plays that i think i need to review and research the rule book as well as forums such as this to get a better understanding of the game.

Welcome, 26101ump. Keep striving for that "perfect" game. It's what keeps us in the "learning" mode. As umpires, IF you keep an open mind, you WILL learn something new. Maybe not every game, but surely, every year. Last year was my 32nd as an umpire and I made it a point to learn as much as I could from other umpires and clinics. When I started in 1978, it was with ASA Slo-pitch at the base I was assigned to. It was 2-man mechanics and I enjoyed it. I LOVE the gameS (baseball and softball) and found this a good way to "stay in the game." Now, it's pretty much 1-man mechanics and you really have to hustle to be at the right place at the right time to make the call.
