Glass Cleaner ?! New Trick?

So, ... in between the 6th inning, ....my partner and I grab a quick 'gaterade' break, ...HOT AND HUMID ....and I look down and say, ..."hey, ... how do you NOT get dust on your shoes?"

He says, "glad you noticed,...I'll show you after the game!"

Well, ...here's the trick ....

Squirt a little water (water bottle/sprayer) on the shoes, wipe off, ...take Eagle One 20/20 Glass Cleaner and spray on as you did the water ....let it sit for about 10 seconds, then wipe it off ....

Creates a nice little sheen, and keeps the dust off!!

Have you heard of this one?!

Hey, don't look at me Dawg, ....I'm doing the Murphys and Hair Spray too, but when I saw my partners plate shoes with literally ZERO dust on them between the 6th and 7th, I'm thinking:WTF kind of trick is this ?!?:agasp_:

I would think thatthe glass cleaner is going to remove the hairspray...

For my leather shoes, I'm sticking with the same stuff I use on the leather in my Navigator and Volvo and Rawlings Pro Preferred glove. I wouldn't dream of using hair spray, amonia, water, or other chemicals not meant for leather. I'm going for soft, supple and long term, instead of shiny and dust repellant.

Hairspray's merely a sealer, which washes off easily with the next washing of Murphy's. On the permanently shined shoes like the NB or Reebok, it works beautifully and doesn't harm the finish.

The Murphy's is the alternative to the Armour All wipes or solution, which each cost hundreds of percent more than the Murphy's. I bought a gallon of Murphy's at Costco for about $10. It will last for all my household needs--including umpire shoe care--about eight or ten years, or about a dollar a year. If I just used it solely for shoes (sorry, I couldn't resist), it would amount to a dime or a quarter a year. I just made my second bottle of solution since last fall and used three or four more capfuls out of that gallon. The same size bottle of Armour All is about $7 and lasts a season or so, and doesn't even clean as well as the Murphy's.

Most people you talk to would opt for the stuff that costs a dime per bottle over the stuff that costs seven bucks.

i use a silicone car care product , turtle wax 2001 super protectant . you can apply to most leather , and any plastics . i use for all my LG , CP , and even on the FM cage . not only does it bring back the shine and clean well, to all the hard plastics and coatings on gear . and really shine up the plate and base shoes . it makes the plastics very slippery so when you are putting on/or off pants , shirts there is very little resistance against the fabric . also when working the game , pants and shirts tend to slide against the plastics very easily , no binding . on the shoes it does help keep dirt /dust off , and they clean very quickly . also water beads on the shoes . not water proof, but the 2001 super protectant is silicone based . it is better than an amour all type product which is water based . best of all it really works well , and is easy .

I find the armour all wipe make the shoes a dirt magnet. Using murphy's, I get less dust and it cleans up nicely with scrubbing bubbles. I will try hair spray on them when I remember to buy some.

I don't know 62... I've heard in some applications that silicone can begin to sag after awhile! ;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again....I'm with kylejt on this issue. You guys spend a lot of time and effort on chemicals and other junk to put on your shoes. I just clean them with Murphy's/water mix and they are good to go. They don't need to look like the dashboard of my car.

Time, and effort? I think it's been documented that if you take your time cleaning your shoes, it MIGHT take 90 seconds. This protectant from Turtle Wax is for leather seats, so it can't hurt shoes. It's a quick spray and wipe off...poof, no dust :(

yes thats it !! the label is different , still the same product . very quick and easy to apply , and lasts awhile before re-applying . let me know what u think after sometime on the field .
