The eBay route can be very beneficial, however, ....

For a Gold or Platinum, you're only saving a few dollars here and there from a brand new one? Almost silly to get used, when for $10 you get one right out of the box...

But, to each his own......

Generally speaking, you're correct about Gold CPs and other high-end stuff.

But I've found that if you're always scouring, and do creative searches, you'll occasionally see new and near-new Golds and Platinums for a significant savings over retail. I saw a once-worn, but not even used Gold (too small for the guy) go for $91 recently. There were a couple others slightly used in the same ballpark. I got my brand new Gold shins for $72 shipped from a guy who got them as a gift but found them to be too long. I also scored a brand new Wilson Dynalite back-up mask for $32 shipped. And I won't re-tell the story of the Douglas CP and shins that I scored for around $80 total. They're out there.

Ebay can work if you put the time in. I'm not saying you have to spend several hours a day like Kyle does, but an hour here and there and you'll see some great stuff pop up from time-to-time.

true,

let me correct myself .... USUALLY, the golds and platinums sell for only a few dollars for what a new one will go for .... ;)

Great haul bayoublue!

This thread got me looking around. Pretty solid group of listings on ebay at the moment. A nike mask (haven't seen one for sale in month- should get sky high), some white pocket plate pants (if your are into that sorta thing), and All-American chest protector, and an All-Star CP.

And in that case, I will always prefer the secure, trouble-free Ump-Attire purchase of such an item.

I would have made it nice and handy to link to them like your post, but have yet to learn that trick...

The stab was all in fun. I don't make free enough use of those winky-face icons. ;)

What's the big deal about the white pockets? I guessed I missed the memo on why that's cool on those MLB poly wools.

I think it's merely the way to know that they're professional issue. (Essentially the same slacks.)
