This isn't going to be popular but these MLB guys are setting an awfully bad example. Crawford argued balls and strikes and maybe bumped him - toss him. Madden did the same - he's gone too, but for god sake shut up and move along. Poor Tim C. didn't look too impressed.

Same thing with this clip from Friday (I was at this game as a Twins fan and thought this was out of line). Bush couldn't hit a barn and had no right to be complaining about the zone but warn him and if he doesn't shut up, toss him. Stomping out to the mound yelling and screaming is uncalled for (although I think the Brewers announcers were a little over the top with their condemnation). If he said something that was that bad to get you that upset toss him and move along but for god's sake, you look like a fool when you stomp out there looking for a fight.

Who the hell are these pinhead announcers?!? :WTF

"the players have to restrain an umpire".. What a CROCK. The video doesn't lie, jackass - it was Bush that was being pulled away - and the umpire is surrounded by FOUR Brewers players - he's not being 'restrained' in the least.

And they say that Rapuano has a reputation for having a short temper? Really? Why? Because you morons say so?

Idiots.

Rap is a fiery guy.

Bush clearly (once again no audio at work) yells something at about 3 seconds which Ed did not appreciate. That pitch was very low and the catcher jerked the heck out of it. Bush had no reason to complain.

That said, it does not look good for the umpire to to come out from behind the plate like this. But Rap kept him in the game, and taught Bush he's not going to be showed up. Could he have EJ'd him, easily.

At about 12 seconds you can read Rap's lips "Don't ever F:censored:ing do that again." I can hear Ed's voice as I'm reading his lips.

Could it have been handled better, yes.

Ok, here we go, ....:FIRE:

Watch it again .....

Bush doesn't / isnt' complaining about the call, he's pissed he walked him, and says &%^#!

And before he could blink, ER is out there (with his hat coming off when he takes off his mask as usual:TD:) and starts barking.

My theory, :WTF if you want, ....but .....ER jumped waaayy too soon here. You can see Bush kind of saying, " I wasn't talking about the call" or something like that...watch it again......

Watch at :18-20: you can see Bush (read his lips) something like, that wasn't directed at you....

Incredible how all those players had to hold back the UMP. Looks like F1 's life was in danger!!!

It isn't just what a player says - it's also his body language. If he was ticked off about the walk, fine - but DON'T walk toward the plate and gripe about it.

Doing that is in the same category as a catcher turning around.

(there's another video out there today - Navarro, I think - getting run because he turned around... you can't see/hear what he's saying, but it doesn't matter - you're showing up the umpire - don't do it.

I give credit to ER for not running Bush, anyway.

Looked like a :WTF high school freshman with that pull. Good grief.

Brian, he did not do that, look again, he approached ER when ER comes out to him ....

Watch Bush only..the whole time, ...he's planted 2 footed and yells &^$*, then ER comes out, then Bush comes to meet him .....

You must be watching another clip because he starts yakking and starts walking as he does. The pitcher got restrained, ER is misdirected slightly by a bump trying to save his pitcher.

To those that think Rapuana over-reacted or caused it:

:big_no

Are you :TD: insane?

Both the catcher and Prince Fielder immediately come out to get Bush away from Ed, so they knew what was going on.

And, I know this is :Horse: but are you going to let a pitcher walk toward you jawing all the way after your call? I agree w/the others who say Bush is damned lucky he didn't get tossed.

I think if Rapuano was not going to toss him he had to go to the mound like he did. Should he have tossed him rather than doing that? Maybe - sure; but I'm not an MLB umpire and I'm not going to second-guess a guy who is.

Nobody here has any idea what Bush said after that call.

Bush didn't start towards the plate until after the ump jerked his mask and hat off to start yelling at him.

Yup. That's what I saw as well.

:TD: We must be watching different videos.

Maybe you are right.

I mean about the video, not that we are watching different.

I wish I could read Bush's lips better.

He could be saying "Ed, I hope you have a Merry Christmas this year!" and it would still get the same reaction from a lot of umpires.

A pitcher coming down the hill jawing is showing up the umpire. It doesn't matter what he's saying. Like I said, he's lucky Rapuano didn't run him.

First of all, let's all get over the fact that we're umpires, ...we know that!

And, ...99.999999999% of the time, the umpire is right.

Now, take OFF the umpire hat and watch again. At :02 the pitch goes in, at :03 Bush yells, then takes a step toward the catcher like every pitcher does to get the ball back, before anyone blinks, ERs mask is off and he's yelling, and Bush is responding to what ER is saying. ER spoke first....

Now, of course, this is SOLEY based on the video posted on the Brewers page on MLB, if there were another angle, we may (or may not) see Bush say something before ER does, ....but I highly doubt it...

No sir, just rational:angel4:

Immediately?

See my post above,... Bush is only responding to ERs reaction. Like I said, there 'could' have been something more ...

I watched the video again and as soon as the pitch goes in he walks down the hill but you don't see the front until seconds later and he is solid yakking. I assure you he was from the beginning. Umpires don't react to a pitcher walkimng off the mound to get the ball balk. They do react to pitchers running their mouth.

no, he yells/swears first, ....then walks...just as he walks, (immediately) ER comes off w/ the mask, then the first shot of Bush is him responding to ER.

SO IT APPEARS on the vid :)

Yes, that's true, but what if ER (according to the video, this is correct), but what if ER was pissed about him swearing?

I can not nor would not try to speak for Rap, but in the short time I spent with him I can almost gaurantee he wouldn't be pissed about anybody swearing.
