Actually this is two situations so I will separate them. I saw them both at my son's (13-15 Babe Ruth) game last night. This is on a field with a very close backstop.

Situation 1: Passed ball bounces off of backstop pad and bounces into batter (still in box) before R1 turns into R2. PU calls time and returns R1 to 1B. DC asks for interference on the batter but they play on.

Situation 2: PB comes back from backstop, runner does not try to advance but batter picks ball up and hands it to the catcher. PU calls time and instructs batter to not touch ball. DC once again asks for INT but no call.

Was this handled correctly? I think the first situation was, not so sure about the second.

1) Play on (let R1 become R2 on the "steal.")

2) Handled correctly. No play so no interference.
