Top 3rd, one of VC's batters goes down looking, it just caught the corner, I ring him up, VC up again, telling me my strike zone is all over...I shut him down, and tell him enough. Bottom 3rd, r1, 2 outs, line drive to f3, very low to the ground, I see it go straight into his glove, f3 then steps on 1st, I call out, double play, inning over. All of a sudden, I hear VC say, Jimmy, what are you doing, go back to 2nd base!!! I look over and say, coach, that was a catch. He looks at me, says, "are you serious? it clearly hit the ground(while pointing and smacking the ground), you're strike zone is a mess, and you don't know safe from out!!!

1. How can the VC complain about a runner being out in the bottom of an inning?

2. How can you get a double play with 2 outs?

So even if the he didn't catch the line drive then he's got an out anyway at 1b

Thanks for the catch...was typing this on my phone between games, should be top 3, 1 out...this was right after ringing the kid up with the call on the corner, the K was the 1st out of the inning.

Thanks

Wow - that is crazy. Sometimes I think that people over at umpire.org are a little cavalier with their "don't work for them if they don't back you up" statements (sometimes that's the only gig in town) but your situation is absolutely nuts. All three of these situations are clear cut ejs and one coach made contact with you - screw that, let em call the cops. And if they seriously expect you to put up with that kind of conduct without an ej its time to either start looking for other work or talking to other umps and banding together to put a stop to it.

They drop the F bomb they're punching their own ticket. Then arguing balls and strikes is an auto buh-bye as well. Good job. B)

That's the way it is with me too BUT this week I was informed by a RAT - that the F bomb is not really swearing. :yippie: Hmmmmmm?? I smiled and said it is here and it is today.

May not be "swearing", but it certainly falls under: profanity, vulgarity, cussing, inappropriate language, foul language, objectionable language - take your pick.

Bottom line is it violates the Regulation on field decorum (XIV in LL) and falls under unsportsmanlike in 901(d) in LL and OBR
